No cookies, no tracking

This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It uses no analytics and no advertising. Fonts, images and videos come from this website’s own server, so visiting it sends no data to anyone else.

YouTube video

One case study offers a YouTube video. It stays a still image until you press play. Only then does your browser load the video from YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com, Google Ireland Limited), which receives your IP address and technical data. YouTube’s privacy policy applies from that point. The legal basis is your consent, given by pressing play (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Server logs

When you open a page, the hosting provider automatically processes technical data that your browser sends: IP address, date and time, the page requested, and browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are kept only as long as needed and then deleted or anonymised under the hosting provider’s own retention rules. Hosting provider: Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. Data may be processed in the USA; Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, including its Swiss-U.S. part. More in Vercel’s privacy notice.

Email

If you email me, I use your address and message only to reply, and delete them once they are no longer needed (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

Links to other sites

Links to YouTube, LinkedIn and other sites only take you there when you click them. From then on, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

Your rights

You can ask what data I hold about you and have it corrected, deleted or restricted. You can also object to the processing or ask for your data in a portable format. An email is enough. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example Latvia’s Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija) or, in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). This notice also covers visitors from Switzerland under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
